My prince charming would come, riding on a white stallion, sweep me off the floor and take me far, far away from reality…
What is it about love that makes it so overrated? Is it the fairy tales we have heard since we were children? The movies that revolve around it? Or is it the basic lack or sheer excess of it? Guess that depends on who you’re asking the question!!! But for a normal, average sort of person… one who wakes up to live his dream. Goes through the day to earn (or steal) his bread and butter. And then sleeps disappointed with the returns or excited about the next day.
What is it about love that drives the sanest and wisest of men searching for it? Why every luxury seems pale before its red glow? Why have we made it the elixir of life? Why do we wish to drown in its passion? Why is our existence based on those three words… “I Love You”?
Which brings me to a bigger question… what is love? Is it the play of hormones in teenagers’ lives? You know… the looks, the giggles, the love songs… the belief that every movie is true and I am the princess (or prince) in every fairytale.
Or is it the slightly mature yet equally silly concept of “every person has a soul mate” and “if I see the light in him, then he is the one”? The days of romance and nights of passion. The months of dinners and dances and dates and years of pain and suffering and regret…
Or is it the grown up version of finding the man who can take care of me and the family and settling for a life of kids, picnics, routine and growing old together?
Is love a risk, an adventure or a safe and secure feeling? Is it passionate and exciting or a tranquil river you dip your feet in? Is it one special moment or many vivid experiences?
Love… it never means the same at all times in life. It brings pain and tears, longing and satisfaction, heartbreak and joy. Yet, despite the price one must pay to deserve its poison, it is still in demand!
Why…???
